CELMAD Think – Act Association Holds Its Constitutive General Assembly

The CELMAD Association (Center of Excellence in Leadership and Management for Development) marked a significant milestone in its history by organizing its Constitutive General Assembly on March 2, 2024. This event took place at the headquarters of the African Institute of Governance (IAG) and brought together a diverse group of professionals, researchers, and thought leaders committed to advancing leadership and management. The list of founding members was recorded in both the physical and virtual attendance sheets (via Zoom).

The General Assembly commenced with a welcome address by the chairman of the initiative committee, Mr. Fodé Ndiaye, who emphasized the importance of creating a center dedicated to excellence in combined leadership and management for structural, ethical, and inclusive transformation in Africa, by and for its citizens. He highlighted the association’s objectives, including promoting innovative management practices, developing leadership skills, and contributing to the sustainable development of organizations and communities.

The session featured the presentation of the association’s statutes, followed by insightful discussions among participants. These exchanges helped clarify CELMAD’s mission, ambitions, operational framework, and governance model. The statutes were formally approved (see minutes).  

A key highlight of the General Assembly was the election of the Executive Board members. Following a transparent and democratic voting process, the results were announced : - Mr. Fodé Ndiaye – President - Mrs. Coumba Mar-Gadio – Vice President - Mrs. Khardiata Lo-Ndiaye – Secretary General - Mr. Elhadj Sarr – Deputy Secretary General - Mr. Cambel Dieng – Treasurer

The newly elected leaders expressed their gratitude for the trust placed in them and shared their vision for the future of CELMAD. They emphasized the importance of working collaboratively with all members and partners to achieve the association’s ambitious goals. 

The closing of the General Assembly was followed by a networking cocktail reception, providing participants with an opportunity to connect and exchange insights on leadership and management. This inaugural event was a resounding success, laying a solid foundation for CELMAD’s future activities.
